Peter Goodman recently spoke as a panelist about criminal conviction discrimination under New York law. The panel discussion was sponsored by the New York State Staffing Association on January 24, 2018. Peter’s presentation included an overview of various New York statutes applicable to hiring an individual with a history of one or more criminal convictions, including the New York City Fair Chance Act and New York Correction Law Article 23-A. Peter also discussed the factors an employer must consider when deciding whether to hire an applicant with a criminal conviction, and provided multiple practice pointers for human resources professionals.
