Employment and business disputes can drain time, resources, and attention. Mediation offers a cost-effective, confidential alternative to litigation. We regularly represent clients in mediation and offer mediation services through Peter Goodman, a trained mediator who brings extensive experience to resolving workplace and commercial conflicts.
Lawsuits are expensive, time consuming, and inherently unpredictable. Whether the issue involves an employment dispute, a contract disagreement, or a business conflict, the final outcome in litigation rests with a judge, jury, or arbitrator — and reaching that point often requires significant time and cost.
Mediation offers a better path. Through voluntary mediation, parties can resolve disputes on their own terms, long before a case reaches trial — or even before a lawsuit is filed. Mediation allows parties to control the outcome, eliminate the uncertainty of litigation, and often achieve resolution far more quickly and costeffectively. Many courts now recognize the value of mediation and actively encourage it (or require it) through courtsponsored programs designed to reduce caseloads and promote settlement.
Because mediation is nonbinding, the mediator does not decide the case or make factual or legal findings. Instead, the mediator serves as a neutral facilitator, helping the parties communicate, evaluate risk, and work toward a mutually acceptable agreement. The process is confidential: statements, offers, and discussions made during mediation cannot be disclosed to the court or used as evidence if the matter proceeds.
Peter Goodman brings more than thirty years of mediation experience to the table. In addition to representing clients in mediations for decades, Peter is a trained mediator who has completed 40 hours of Basic Mediation Training and Advanced Commercial Mediation Training approved by the New York State Unified Court System’s Office of ADR Programs. His mediation practice is strengthened by extensive experience resolving workplace and commercial disputes.
Peter’s approach is practical, informed, and focused on helping parties reach durable, efficient resolutions — even in complex or emotionally charged matters.
